Obituary for Kim M. Barkley

Kim Marie Barkley passed away in Dallas, Texas, on January 20, 2025 after a courageous battle with several chronic diseases and in the end cancer. Born in Newark, Ohio, on June 28, 1957, to Richard and Betty (Shobe) Barkley, Kims life was a testament to the power of resilience, kindness, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Kim cared deeply for or her friends and family. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her goofy personality could light up any room, and she had a gift for making everyone feel seen and valued. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Michael Wriston, and her brother, Scott Barkley. She will be missed by her cousins, Cheryl Jacobsen Densmore, Courtney Densmore Selah, and Heather Densmore Shover, along with numerous little cousins” who brought her so much joy.

Kim's love extended to the animal kingdom, especially her canine companions, who were a constant source of comfort and joy throughout her life. She had a special connection with animals, understanding their unspoken language and offering them unwavering love.

A voracious reader, Kim found solace and adventure within the pages of countless books. She enjoyed the discussions and friendships she made in her book clubs. Music and rock-n-roll was another passion, and Guns N' Roses held a special place in her heart for nearly 40 years. Seeing them in concert in 2022 was a dream come true.

For 45 years, Kim was a dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous, and for over 34 years, she found strength and support in Al-Anon. These communities provided her with the tools and fellowship she needed to face each day with courage and grace, and she was deeply grateful for the love and understanding she found there.

Kim’s career was marked by significant contributions to the technology and market research sectors. She was part of the early days of Apple Computer when they had a presence in Addison, Texas. She later worked at AOL Market Research and then Integrated Designs Inc., where she met her husband. 

Kim's life was a beautiful example of love, connection, and unwavering strength. She faced her health challenges with remarkable resilience, never losing her zest for life or her capacity for compassion. She will be remembered for her kind spirit, her love of others (including the furry ones!), and her incredible strength.
